What others do, I can do too ...
Now, that I am in the play-testing phase for some of the Canadian Theme Pack GRFs, I'll be showcasing here some of the results ...
For starters, I was testing city development and growth. Below is the result of 100 years of game play ...
Also, for the snow-players, everything is snow aware too ...

This month's project was River Road Bridges combining real road-/tram-types, road-stop way points and rivers (sorry no objects), using a never attempted brand-new way of coding. Also, including a demonstration of the longest possible train, a whooping 64 tiles long, i.e. 120 wagon container freight train hauled by 8 GE 'Evolution' Series ES44AC diesel-electric locomotives delivering 4,400 HP each ...

Another month has passed with progress on the river bridges and the introduction of multi aspect signalling, some of which can be spotted below. Also note the total lack of objects in use ...

Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
Thank you. Yes, those river road bridges are traffic-able, the water tiles are real rivers, the road bridges are placed as Roadstop Waypoints on top of real roads and are usable by RVs, be they buses, trucks and trams, including light rail and suspension monorail.
The menu of currently available River Road Bridges ...

These are nice! Really want to be able to use these, I hope everything's going well?
Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
Of course, and thank you for the heads up.
Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
Another month, with quite some progress with the 'Deep Freeze' option of the Canadian Theme Pack, as well as rail stations and more signalling ...
It is Christmas Time at the freight rail hub of Cochrane, Ontario, Canada, operated by Ontario Northland Railway [ONR], on a freezing minus 40° C day ... At this time of the year, a lot of cargo has to be shifted. There is paper from the Kapuskasing paper mill to the printing works at Englehart. Also, timber harvesting at Hearst is in full swing, as heavy vehicles can only access the tundra forests when the ground is frozen solid; so for ONR, it is very vital to exploit the timber resources of Northern Ontario, as timber, lumber and paper has to get to markets. Very important, too, is the supply of mail, heating oil, diesel fuel, petrol, aviation jet fuel, groceries and general cargo to the local communities; not to forget getting passengers to their destination.
Ontario Northland Railway operate from the terminus at North Bay in the south, via Cochrane, and on to its northern terminus at Moosonee, as well as to Kapuskasing, Hearst and Timmins to name a few. As Moosonee cannot be reached by road, the Polar Bear Express is an essential mixed transportation service for passengers, mail and general cargo. It is just being shunted to the station platform, to get ready for its daily 6 hour journey to Moosonee. The Snowplow is also just heading off to clear any snow that fell overnight, while several heavy freight trains are waiting for their journey down to North Bay ...
... The 'Deep Freeze' at Cochrane, Ontario ...
... but, spring is getting closer ...
... even the worst winter comes to a close with much easier living in summer ...

Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
Yes, but not quite yet. I, too, would like to see more flexibility, when it comes to snowy landscapes.
Currently, this is a parameter setting :
a) variable snowline, we all know about; i.e. oscillating between a snowline altitude in January and July.
b) snowy coast line; static snow line of 1 all year, with features that are normally snow free all year overridden with snowy variants; e.g. coastal tiles, lighthouses etc.
c) Deep Freeze goes one step further; i.e. the same as snowy coast line, plus all roads get full snow cover, rail tracks with more snow and lakes and rivers frozen.
Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
The Railway Museum of the Canadian Historical Society, exhibiting vintage steam and diesel, as well as contemporary rolling stock; replicas of many Canadian station buildings are also on display. The museum is situated conveniently on the Québec-Montréal-Toronto-Windsor corridor for easy visitor access by high-speed express trains, all stopping at the Railway Museum station ...
Refurbishment of Canadian Railway Stations, buildings and platforms was the flavour of the month ... thrown in security fences and gates for road and rail ...
... even in winter the museum is open, although with fewer visitors ...

Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
I've always admired your style, very inspirational.
May I ask where those docks are from? I've used them myself before, but I can't figure out which grf it is.
EDIT: Figured it out, Industrial Stations Renewal.

Re: Canadian Theme Pack Images by OzTrans
Thank you, I'll try to do my best ...
Those Docks (including the wharf tiles) are my creation, which have indeed been inspired by the docks in ISR. I had to make a few adjustments, so that the docks line up with the wharf tiles and, too, made them snow aware for my coastal snow feature.
