Yeah you get only one monorail, but that's around 2000, while the demo starts in 1930, and stops in 1932 :D

Hmm, I started in Windows 2000 with some tricks I know,
It runs longer than TTD Dos on Windows 2000. :)
Breaks with the same errors but thats another question...

Ohh, And I know why Chris changed it to a trashcan, it looks somehow ugly to remove a vehicle :)

I know your field is in TTD hacking, but I don't suppose you'd know how to remove the time limitation from the demo, or extend it to, say, 2030? ;) I've tried doing a bit of relatively simple hex editing in the EXE, but to no avail.

I once read something about a tto demo on the cd-rom of a magazine called "PC Gamer". That must have been in 1994 or so. Maybe that's an earlier version... does anyone have such old issues?

BTW, you can move the map in the menu screen. :D

Well, I've written my letter to Chris Sawyer, and among other things, asked about early versions of TTO. I'll post it tomorrow.

If I get a reply, I'll post it and the original here, unless I have a good reason not to.

The demo I have is from What PC? magazine, I still have the CD at home and will get the demo off of it next time, I don't know exactly when it's from, I would take a guess of about Summer 94, it probably has a date on it somewhere anyway.

If it's the same as the one listed at http://i-want-a-website.com/about-tt/ (about the game page), then don't post it. If not, post it! :)

@ antpocas: Yes, I'd like to have a look at it. Can you attach it?

@ Tijgertjuh: You have to run it. It might work for a few minutes, but if it doesn't, run it on another pc.

As soon as I dig up the CD :P You 'll need ARJ though.

Versions of TTO before 1.06.01x (released February 8, 1995) have the tunnel bug. The original release version of TTO does, though.

Another way of viewing your version is to open a DOS prompt and type:

edit /70 tycoon.exe

[replace tycoon.exe with whatever the EXE is called]

and search for "Chris Sawyer". (If you have a hex editor or something like FmView (http://www.wincorner.com), it'll do nicely too). Nearby it should say the version and build date.

I just remembered that I actually have a very old demo of TTO (it actually inspired me to buy the game in the first place). Luckily I have the disk handy, so I've installed the demo and can report the version number: 1.05.126. Unfortunately I don't have any old computers handy to actually try the demo out, but I'll be more than happy to send it around for those that could do this for me. ;)

AFAIK, 1.05.126 is the latest demo version. At least I haven't seen a newer one.
