Definitely off-topic, but this song speaks of a situation where a German pilot escorted a severely damaged B-17 (Wikipedia link if you haven't read about this before) out of German land to safety instead of gunning it down.

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
The Rain throws up some interesting results, as I somehow managed to guide my McLaren-Honda to P2 at China in F1 2017. Bottas was right on my arse at the end, but a bit of late braking into the penultimate corner saw him off! Proud of myself, worked bloody hard, and I'd like to thank the team for putting together a reliable car, that worked brilliantly in the wet, especially when coupled with a brilliant strategy.
Shame about the Drive-Through though (for a BS reason too) or we could have potentially been fighting for P1!
Please excuse the poor image quality!

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
I can't quite wrap my head around how fast car parts deteriorate in F1 2017. After two races, I've had to replace all engine parts par one. WE'RE ONLY ALLOWED 4 FOR THE SEASON. If I switch them after two races, I'll be using 10 over the entire season.

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
That's actually a bug I think.
Lastly, could be the team you're driving for.
You really think McLaren is going to be 100% reliable with no issues? Invest in reliability and durability upgrades
that could be a reason for why your parts wear out so fast, also 25% race distance might have a bug in terms of part wear.always use the "drive out" option when in FP ( and immediately set to lean) , also do not use "return to garage " but go to pits yourself . When you do the practice program for qualification and you use drive out , the mixture is set to MAX by default ( hence me saying to set it to lean even when using drive out ) . I usually never ever use MAX setting ( and very rarely "rich" ) you can do most FP programs in the lean setting . Use the most crappy power unit components you have for the FP .Don't change gearbox for FP though , that will result in penalty if you do it before completing 6 races with it .
Lastly, could be the team you're driving for.

Something goes here, hell if I know.
Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
Well, I was driving for Sauber. Gotta support Marcus Ericsson after all
Yes, reading around I see 25% seems bugged. Running less seems too short, and running more takes too long. Also I'm a bit annoyed by practice sessions being too long. I KNOW, I KNOW, setting cars up and developing parts is crucial for F1. I don't want to do that though. I wanna mop the floor with my team mate and go from zero (P19 in my Sauber) to hero (champion. In my Sauber). Let me race, don't force me to care about conservative driving techniques!
There should definitely be a setting, "parts wear" that you can reduce or entirely turn off. As it stands, I will be starting at the back of the grid for every second race come mid-season. Even if I do put my Sauber on the front row.

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
I think my Engine is around the 50% mark, might as well give it a run out around Bahrain as I don't particularly fancy my chances there with the McLaren If I qualify at the back, might be worth taking a fresh engine, and dealing with the penalty, at least I'll have one for later in the season that way!Chrill wrote:I can't quite wrap my head around how fast car parts deteriorate in F1 2017. Mine has been so far, though I am only two races in! Though, come to think of it, I think my engineer mentioned something about reduced power output right at the end of the last race. Ah well, speed is more important than reliability, at least I'll have a chance of some points when it explodes, instead of puttering around in a car that is reliable but 3/4 seconds off the pace.Comm Cody wrote:You really think McLaren is going to be 100% reliable with no issues? Also, 50% Races for the win!

I do like it when maps go a bit weird in Europa Universalis. Take a look at the Iberian peninsula!
In the top left, you find the independent nation of Galicia. Surrounding that is Portugal.
The large yellow nation is Castile, predecessor to a unified Spain. Castile has lost a lot of land to Portugal, but also seized other former Portuguese lands to the south. Just northwest of Castile is the nation of Navarra, which just so happens to be a vassal of the bright blue lands in Southern France, the independent Guyenne.
East of Castile, you'll find Aragon. East of Aragon, my vassal state Girona (white) sits nicely by the seaside.
Oh yes, I am that brownish blob covering most of Southeastern France and Northwestern Italy. I am Switzerland. (and yes, I've been using cheats for power points)

You kinda got me to play again ^^; M&T mod though, of course. Thought I'd give Ethiopia a try:
mh. No money. No manpower. No eduction. No good resources. Estates have all them privileges. Horrible CE in horrible terrain:
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ ... A3BCEFCD4/
Surrounded by Sunnis, so have fun with Sunni rebels and Gazi raids every five minutes.
But at least the other nations in the region are largely not much better off.

Huzzah, Surviving Mars is here. From the makers of Tropico, and the publishers of Europa Universalis, Stellaris, and Cities in Motion / Cities: Skylines, it's time to conquer Mars yeooo!
My main area of my colony includes these three domes. The closest, and the largest, is the dome "New Hope Springs". The middle dome is the cleverly named "Origin Dome" courtesy of being the first one constructed. The one to the left is the "Chrill Dome" named for the founder of the program. Chrill.
In the back, outside the crater/valley thing I am in, you see a fourth dome. It's the "Rooftop Dome" since it's up there. It serves a mineral extraction site.
The burn marks near the camera are simply sites I have landed rockets at.
If you have played Tropico, you will recognise a LOT of the city building aspect, or in this case the dome construction aspect. It's clearly built by the same people (Haemimont) and with the same engine.

Recently I took part in a playtest at Paradox Interactive's HQ here in Stockholm. As a thanks, I got to pick two games and I decided to get myself some Cities: Skylines DLCs. Long time since I played it. LOOK, there's public transportation!
Now, this game even runs fine on my potato computer. Very encouraging. Can't wait to get a new computer and really bump up the graphics for this.

I've been playing OpenRCT2 lately (Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, basically given the OTTD treatment!). Especially proud of the large wooden rollercoaster circulating the entire park. It's stats are immense, with over 9 in both excitement and intensity yet just 4.8 in nausea.
All the water rides are pre-existing, only the rollercoasters are built by me.

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
Have you played any multiplayer OpenRCT2? If you haven't I can highly recommend it as it can be quite enjoyable to work together on a park, even if it's just with strangers building randomly. Sometimes someone will come up with a really well designed or cool looking ride that you can take ideas from for your own parks and it's overall a good time.

Planet Zoo. Oh man, it's difficult to wrap your head around. Everything can be built, pretty much, it's just a matter of doing it. That leads to some difficult-to-use controls. I'm getting there, though!
----
Grizzly Bears. They are mean-looking creatures, are they not? The visitors are greeted by the grizzlies as soon as they enter the zoo. A mechanic, not seen in this photo, is busy repairing the minor cracks to the window. We don't want a grizzly running amok, do we? ----
Further down the path, past the grizzlies, we find an exhibit with two species of snakes and some pretty peafowls roaming the grass. One of the snakes, the "Eastern Brown Snake", is albino! ----
Across the road from the snakes (their exhibit can be seen in the background of this photo), we find two beautiful Giant Tortoises. They aren't great swimmers, but they love their bridge! These animals can get sressed quite easily, which is why they enjoy not one but two shelters where the people cannot see them. ----
My first proper building! This may not look like much, but it took me some 45 minutes to build this. It plays host to everything a zoo could possibly need for their staff, including a vet, staff resting areas, and food prep. ----
Next to this staff building, we have some spectacular saltwater crocodiles. Now, this zoo is located in North America (Canada!) which makes the climate too cold for these dearies. Therefore, there are heaters located around their habitat to ensure a steady temperature even when it snows! NOTE: I forgot to focus on the animals here, but they are the truly stunning piece from a graphical point of view. Extremely detailed, they move so lifelike. The visitors are... meh. Cartoonish.

Since OpenRCT2 came up, I'll contribute. First one is actually made with the cheats in place, whereas the others are old RCT1 saves loaded into OpenRCT2. The weird queue choices in Karts & Coasters are OpenRCT2 reassigning RCT1+ queue options which aren't available.

Re: The official-unofficial screenshot thread (non OT)
I've returned to Cities Skylines lately, after being inspired by two video series on YouTube:
Marble Mountain by two dollars twenty
Nydal by Strictoaster
They use a lot of mods, their cities are near unplayable due to it, but they LOOK GREAT.
I've always been annoyed that the space between buildings, plazas and open spaces and what not, look stupid. I've come to learn a bit about how to avoid that.
---
Here, we see a square roundabout. Is that a thing? It is now. At one end of the square, there is a small shopping mall. At the other end, near to us, we see a metro station. Passengers can move from metro to bus here, buses carry them down to the airport. We are slap bang in the center of our city here. In the back, you can see the large train station carrying people from all over the region. At the front, trams run past a lovely city park with trees and rocks. Also, I've found a little mod that allows me to build pedestrian walkways with zoning. I've used these to build a lovely beach promenade where I do allow buses to run. Just behind the beach promenade, we see the local library serviced by the same bus.
