New rulebook/howto for translators
Because MiHaMiX's new online translator is pretty good by now, we want the translators to use it, both for current translations and new ones.
We can always use more translators, specially for languages with a lot of missing strings or new languages. You can check the current list here: http://translator.openttd.org/checklangfiles.php
URL = http://translator.openttd.org/
If you want an account, you should mail MiHaMiX about it; see the above posted URL. If he's not available, PM me or Darkvater with the following information:
Username:
Password: (at least 6 letters)
Realname:
Email address:
Language to translate:
If you start a new translation, we also need:
The name of the language in English
The name of the language in the language + (not finished), which should also be translated
If you already started a translation, the contact me so we can use that as a base for the online translation
We prefer people to use the online translator instead of editing local txt files as it is a lot faster for us to apply the changes this way. We also removes the problem where a translation gets outdated while it is being made.

Rather than spend a great deal of time doing it yourselves, there are a number of good online translation tools available.
The best of the these is Rosetta

it works in mozilla. The first browser I tried (safari) failed to open it
I'm generally not very much into autotranslators, but if somebody verifies the result, it might be ok.
Autotranslators can be very wrong and pick completely wrong words. Try this one "I have a present for John. He sheep a book". Do that mean that the book is made out of wool?

You could post it on the Sourceforge page https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=103924
(Under Minor Glitches, I suppose ?)
This way you'll be sure the dev's will see it.

I read and made some changes to the french translation.antp wrote:Hello,
If I want to notify a translation error in the French translation, where shall I post that?
Edit : I ask that here because I found no info on the site or on the forum about what to do if we simply want to make small corrections to existing translations.
You could check the night builds and give me your opinion.
There is still a lot of work to do, but I think you might be satisfied.
On translation matter : Is it possible to have something like a forum for it? I think the subject could be quite interesting

rofl mail them imo afaik they're using a custom version of 0.4.0.1 to make the names more "russian" (changes in the name generator). Excuse my ignorance but Volgograd seems ok to me. (aside from the city itself to have been destroyed and renamed)
Siggy not gonna work unless someone allows javascripting...
