Well, since I have never touched one single line of the save-load code, I know the bug can't come from the subsdiaries patch. I'm guessing that either the devs have made some incompatible changes since one of the previous revisions (and it will be fixed soon) or your savegame is not from a nightly or trunk build, but the MiniIN or another build.

Your changes in settings.c look like the culprit.

could you be a little more precise...

I know stuff has changed regarding what patch settings are stored where, but I find it pretty hard to find any documentation about what I make wrong. Plus since I've been living in china for a few months, I'm in the timezone that's about the worst to talk to the devs on IRC...

You need to bump the savegame version and use SDT_CONDVAR/SDT_CONDBOOL with that version number (and to SL_MAX_VERSION)

And remove the define while you're at it.

Really? Personally I use the built in zoom function of Opera and can read it quite well. ;-)

Ah, that I didn't know - thanks. But my suggestion remains for single player as it's entirely pointless in such a game.

There are many problems with trains start/stop.

1) You can't start/stop trains on bridges (except if the managed company owns the land under the bridge).

2) You can't start/stop a train if the company you are managing doesn't own the tracks the train is running on (except for depots). Let me explain that with a screenshot (depot is owned by A)
- A engine is on B track and can only be started/stopped when managing B
- B engine is on A track and can only be started/stopped when managing A
- A and B engines can be started/stopped in A depot whatever company is managed (not a bug I think :) )

Created a subsidary, and tried to name it. Except that the name ended up being given to the parent company. :?

Edit: The same happens if I try to change livery or manager name on a subsidary - they only change in the parent.
Faces work fine though.

Just so you all know. I'm keeping track of all these bug reports, but I'm pretty busy these days, not to mention that my laptop, which is my only computer, broke down, and I had to restore my system (and my data from backups).

So, I'll have a look at it whenever I have time, but in the mean time, if anybody wants to have a try, please go on ;)

Do you also get a message similar to "Your openttd.grf file is corrupted or missing!" on start up?

I've now updated my grf files, but the problem still exist. The only time I don't receive the message is when I click on an competitor that I don't have as a subsidiries. My other problem is that I can't manage my other subsidiaries, the manage button does not exist!

Problem solved, I downloaded the latest nightly and voila! it worked! But instead a new problem has showed up, Many (not all) of my vehicles have problems finding thiere route. Most of my buses just drive around in circles even though the bus station is right next to the bus, I've tried to delete and restore the station but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions on what to do?

Hi there,

I seem to be having troubles with the track sharing tax. Here's what I did

1. started a new game
2. built a line with my company ("X") between a coal mine and a power plant
3. created a subsidiary ("Y")
4. Y built a depot and train that used X's line
5. taxes for cargo pickup was set to 0, base tax for subsidiaries shared track usage was at 6 pounds per tile, and tax for stopping in subsidiaries station was set to 0
5. X was never paid for Y using its tracks. I did not see any income under X's "Finances" window

Am I doing something wrong? Why is Y not paying X for using X's track?

Thank you for your help

Does the income from tax not come under the "Other" row, on the finance window?

The number for "other" is a steady -300 pounds per annum, which is the normal amount unless there are stock operations. So I do not believe I am receiving money under the "other" section.

Subsidiaries in multiplayer

Post by browneyedboy »

I was wondering, how come I don't earn money when I have the blue station and my friend is yellow? I earn nothing at all from his trains using my rails and picking up my cargo (see pic)

Is there a bug somewhere?

Also, how come I cant create a subsidiary company in multiplayer?

By the way, when I put a train on that station from the screenie - my friend earns money from it.

Please, fix these problems.

PS. One more thing. Wouldn't it be easier if there was, in the economy window, a text called something like "Subsidiaries income" and also "Subsidiaries expenses". So that one would have much better view over the income/expenses when using subsidiaries.
