OpenTTD 0.4.0.1 released!

Post by Darkvater »

We have released a quick bugfix version of OpenTTD that fixes several problems that were present in 0.4.0. Some crashes with the dedicated server (and its non-compiling), signs, and so on.

We urge you to use this release instead of 0.4.0. Have fun :D

As usual, you can find it at SourceForge
- Feature: Add 'clear' command and CTRL+L to empty console window
- Feature: add the possibility to print out the current debug-level
- Fix: [MacOSX] default path for midi player on mac is now correct again
- Fix: Text overflows in about box
- Fix: Link error while compiling as dedicated server
- Fix: Do not execute empty commands in the console
- Fix: Make OpenTTD icon look good on Win2K and earlier
- Fix: Signs didn't work
- Fix: Dedicated server desyncs
- Fix: [ 1197216 ] Error: !invalid string id 0 in GetString, dedicated server endgame crash
- Fix: Don't allow things to be renamed to nothing
- Fix: Windows installer deletes spritecache files on uninstall
- Fix: Depot window did not get redrawn when a non-train-engine was sold
- Fix: Do not scroll the game with the arrow keys when the chatbox is open
- Fix: Remove warning from release build when assertions are no longer active
- Fix: It was possible to open more than one tree window
TrueLight: "Did you bother to read any of the replies, or you just pressed 'Reply' and started typing?"
<@[R-Dk]FoRbiDDeN> "HELP, this litte arrow thing keeps following my mouse, and I can't make it go away."

Thanks!
I've noticed a bug (also in 0.4.0) - sometimes opponent's train window appears and disappears suddenly (I was not clicking anything)

if it is still in 0.4.0.1, then make a proper bug report on SF

Brilliant, Darkvater! That is some excellent work. The signs act correctly now - there were some really bizzare things happening before with them, like the removal of nearby station names.

Very nice update, but it's frustrating that the trains slows so much down when they go uphill whith realistic acceleration turned off

couldn't you fix this, so it would be possible to choose whether you want it or not?
In theory, practice and theory is the same...

In practice it just don't work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Realistic Acceleration turned on by default? Regardless, I would recommend playing with it on, as it seems to take train horsepower more into consideration than the old algorithm did.

Well the trains doesn't slow down uphill with it turned on, but they slow down while entering a station and while they turn 90 degrees - and thats even more frustrating imo

they need more power to maintain speed when going uphill. Because they got plenty of power, you will not see the slowdown. This is also the reason why it's a switch: it's not balanced good enough yet

Autopackage Easy-to-use OpenTTD Installer updated

Post by PinguTux »

Hi there!

I have just updated all Autopackage Installers to version 0.4.0.1
http://www.familie-kirchhofer.de/openttd/autopackage/

Feel free to try it!

Everyone who has problems with MIDI music should also try the openttd-sdlmidi package, it has a patch included which fixes the MIDI support.

i am the only one, who had some problems with trains impossible to find their depot? and when i change the settings regarding to pathfinding, some of the trains find the depot, some not.i guess those, who i already sent to depot do find, the others not.

Well, a screenshot wont make things clear in this case, i think.
but here are the others:

[edit:] sorry, forgot to switch back to english lang. i hope you will handle this :)
[edit2:] i also noticed now, that i was using the 0.4.0, i am upgrading now, will see if this thing gets better.
[edit3:] after upgrade: nothing changed basicaly. they i still see trains, with 70 breakdowns passing by the depots. but other trains sometimes go to depot as well.. strange.

Cool, finally I was able to download and play for several minutes.
Hope I'll get to it more next days.

Man, those big maps are HUGE

but I find that in Czech version some texts overlap the boxes and cause minor graphic glitches in the game. But it was propably reported, or shall I write it to problems?
