I have near 6 trains running, and the reconstruction happens on a junction tile. A possibility is that a train is crossing the railtrack when the disaster happens.

Well, the dummy vehicle looks for a random tile with rail. Then it checks if there are no vehicles (same check as with removing rails, placing signals, etc). If there are no vehicles on the train, track is being owned by a city (the only way to do this... I was trying with UNMOVABLEs but game automaticly rendered lighthouses, transmitters, signs or statues... And I anyway think owning track by a city is the best way to do this since track won't be destroyed and train won't enter it.

Here is a new disaster you might want to add to your patch, you can probably guess what it is. Enjoy. :D

Can you post a screenshot? I would really like to see it work!
Too bad I do not compile C code.... One day, I should get myself into that :(
In the mean time, french translation :

Code: Select all

STR_B007_VOLCANO :{BLACK}{BIGFONT}Éruption volcanique!{}Émeutes de panique sous des averses de feu!

MeusH: I got this funny idea of new "disaster"... :)
it does not in fact destroy anything, but freezes trains in the station.

It's called Bomb Threat and it could effect like trains get stuck to station which is threathened. For big busy station, it causes small havoc. For example you make it so that for each carriage on the train that is in station loading/unloading time triples, because police is looking for a bomb.

just an idea... feel free to develop it further, if it sounds reasonable. :)

okay, does the loaders' strike sound any better?

there's lot's of reasons why train can't leave as soon as planned... Bomb Threat being the worst one on passenger station. (notice that I didn't define in which kind of stations this could happen...)

Well, I guess it's OK, but has to be optional.

sure thing.
(besides, these were just ideas... not that they would be in "have to have" list. :) MeusH additional disasters so far have been quite good imho.)

I'll merge Luca's volcano and I'll relase 1.5 - I hope so.

1.5 is launched. The main feature is the volcano disaster my Lucaspiller.

1.5. comes with english language only since 1.6 will be relased really soon.

I'd like you (players) and you (Luca) what to do with the volcano. Since Luca is author, he shall decide. Since you are the players, you shall decide, too.

In my opinion, more effects should be made around the volcano, screen shaking would decerase while distance from volcano incerases, finally destroyed tiles should be dense around the volcano and should be rare far away from the mountain. Maybye covering with rocks (volcano + destroyed tiles around the map) would be good, too?
Also I think this shouldn't happen often... That's not armageddon, my mom!

This error I get when start my game. I use WinXp Sp2.

P.D.: Which are the new strings?

[EDIT]I think that it be caused because I extracted the new disasters over an old version of the new disasters and not over r3009. But I can't find r3009 executables in nightly.openttd.org. Where are them?[/EDIT]

The new texts are probably the sections of english.txt prepended with '+' in the patch file. Look them up yourself; it's not that hard.

I have been plyaing with the version 1.5 for a while, close to an hour, and sadly enough, the volcano did not erupted :( , although I have set the test mode in disaster setting.
Does it occur only on a specific climate?

I had time to watch the UFOs... they always seem to hit the ground (station, vehicle..) quite at the same few places, as if they were drawned by those particular spots...

What are submarines supposed to do? Block ports? Damage ships?
I think they are moving a bit too fast.

Don't get me wrong, though. I really like it. It is such a refreshing view to see almost every corner of the map been blown away one time or the other!

would be cool if the submarines could sink Oil Ships. (sinking a passenger ship is just not cool). It would be in a similar style to the factory/oil refinery explosions except it actually hurts your company.

Even sinking an oil ship "is just not cool".
