Wrong local authority?

Post by Delboy »

Hi all,

So i've got an interesting problem - In one of the cities (Sedingtown) i've been building in there's an annoying piece of road which is in the way of my rail. When I try and remove it, I'm told that Banbury local authority refuses to allow this.

All well and good you might think and assume that Banbury is probably next door - it's actually on the other side of the map.

It's not really a problem for me, as I can sweet talk Banburys local authority to remove it - but its an interesting bug which I thought i'd share on here. Screenshots and save game are attached below for help in debugging and I am running r10015 :)

You also appear to have a tram stop in Sedingtown named Banbury Valley.

Maybe it's OTTD new feature, some random towns pop in the game. ;)

Road veh 528 is doing some weird stuff, too :-)

Were you playing only with this release version? The city owning the road is stored in save file.

edit:
rv 528 is maybe a tram... i do not have correct grf

Yeah, 528 is a tram - which would explain the weirdness your end :)

Started this game fresh with this release, so that wouldn't explain it. Interesting, if I use the 'land area information' tool on the road square it has no local authority, and the bus stop called banbury has sedingtown as a local authority.

Seems very strange

You started a new game, or a game from internet, or one you made/redited yourself in the editor?

I started a totally new game, randomly generated

It's not downloaded, nor edited.

Then it is very odd. It never happened to me, unless I edited games and deleted towns etc...

These are not the only problems:

Tiles 438x56, 429x58, 443x78, 432x84, 415x75 ... and probably others are also owned by Banbury.

First guess: when a city builds a road under tram, it gets owned by Banbury (city with some index)... Maybe problem with trams, when a tram track is built, city authority is (not) set, owner is set to Player. When a city builds a road, owner is set back to city, but with wrong city ID. Well, just a guess, I dont know how this is hacked :) I just like to make a guess :-D

Have you actually reported this properly as an OTTD bug?
