Hi.
You could use http://www.webzdarma.cz - its a free web hosting with 50MB(up to 150 with more ads) of space with FTP. The server places ad banner to the webpage and if nobody views it for more than a month, the web is deleted - but if we avoid direct linking the download, thats not a problem.
The site is whole in czech, but i can do the registration and PM you the login.
BTW: Isn't there 25MB free on the transportempire.com webpage?
Edit: The server provides a custom 3rd level domain and lets you choose from these 2nd level domains:
czechian.net, czweb.org, euweb.cz, kvalitne.cz, unas.cz, webz.cz, webzdarma.cz, web2001.cz, wz.cz, xf.cz
Tell me which one to use if i should register.

Re: Server space needed
You can use Google Pages if you have a Google Account. (I think)
Re: freeweb
There's A LOT more than that.An00biS wrote:BTW: Isn't there 25MB free on the transportempire.com webpage?

Re: Server space needed
try this one: http://pages.google.com
if you have GMail account it's just log in and go (IE/FF supported only yet)
if you do not have GMail account you will see link on that page to sign up and good to go

Didn't I suggest that?SHADOW-XIII wrote:try this one: http://pages.google.com

But using a real host like the transport empire website would be better. (Faster, more space and bandwidth, and most importantly, to keep all of the files in one place so people don't get confused while trying to find something.)
Re: Server space needed
Why don't you guys just use Sourceforge or Google Code or one of the other many project hosts out there that provide all these facilities (downloads, mirrors, svn) and more?
I know TE has a history of making life hard for itself as a project but why not break the habit?

Re: Server space needed
We used sourceforge, in fact we still have an account, but we moved away because it's too slow and a bit of a hassle to do. It's easier for us to follow a free template of the things we want, rather than the things sourceforge supplies. We get SVN from orudge, which is of much better quality, we have these here forums, which have the benefit of being attached to the TT-Forums comunity, and then I provide a fully functional website for display purposes, including a wiki. I guess the only thing we don't have is the download area and mirrors thing, but we don't really need that right now.

I think we actually do need it at the moment. Personally I am quite eager to test the new build.uzurpator wrote:... Well, the package is ready, just need space...

Re: Server space needed
I sorted it yesterday, I just was a bit more private with usernames and passwords, as you might expect.
My server is fine for what we need now, distributing a 25 meg file.. but distributing an entire game would require mirrors.

Re: Server space needed
Then, is it possible to have the small testing pieces and parts on transport empire, And then use source forge for the large (1.x. etc.) releases that you won't change weekly. (or however long it takes to add to the actual version number.)
Just a suggestion

Re: Server space needed
We could do that, yea.

Re: Server space needed
I completed Halo 3 and Bioshock, so now I'm looking at some website code that directly contributes to Transport Empire (it provides my test setup).rabbit67890 wrote:whats happening nowSteve wrote:We could do that, yea.
Not sure how else to answer your question.

It was slow a few years ago. Pretty smooth these days.Steve wrote:We used sourceforge, in fact we still have an account, but we moved away because it's too slow and a bit of a hassle to do.
So what's the topic of this thread? Sourceforge uploads are easy and fast and reliable. They don't go anywhere... ever. You uploaded something 10 years ago? Still there. Not many places can say that.Steve wrote:I guess the only thing we don't have is the download area and mirrors thing, but we don't really need that right now.
