The Stupidity of AI

Post by dryJ »

We all know that the AI in any version of Transport Tycoon is shocking at the best of times, but i never thought i would see the day when the AI built a track with 90 degree turns in, when i have the 'Forbid trains to make 90 degree turns' switched ON!

A even more stupid thing is that the AI is using STEAMERS on MAGLEV tracks, what the ****!?
I think the problem is the use of the transrapid tracks set and Canadian trainset together.. But it looks weird though!

*squint* I think those are actually elevated monorail as a replacement to the maglev, and those trains are dummy grf's.

Is there something wrong with the graphics or is it just me. Weird elevated tracks, if I might say so.

That one is quality. Seriously. One of the funniest AI pictures I've ever seen. Not only because it builds a massive loop, but the bit just after the 90 degree turn you're complaining about, where it zig zags where it could just go straight...!

An example when the AI connects the wrong roads

The two busses on the below road need to go to the station, the other two are going to an other village.

That second one is brilliant. I know i have a save game somewhere where that happened to a worse extent, will try and find it to screenshot, but pretty much, there was a subsidy offered for coal, to a power station literally 20 blocks away. The AI went nuts, about 4 lines for 1 company  and yet, the coal mine only produced about 120 tons a month  Due to college work, i haven't been able to get on the game recently, but i shall make an effort this weekend 8)

EDIT: I just saw the date of that game  did you play it up to that date?! or just started it near there?

For the record, I have been informed that material I have posted in TT-Forums has not met with the approval of at least one individual.

I acknowledge that many of us come different parts of the world where there may be differing standards as to what is officially considered tasteful, humorous, or appropriate.

I will try to keep the sensitivities of others in mind when I get strange ideas in my mind at early hours of the morning, and exercise restraint accordingly.

Please accept my apologies for any offense given.

I know, there is a LOT of newbs (no offence) in the top-servers in the server list... Very annoying sometimes, but still, very entertaining. ^^

And they are discussing if an OTTD AI can pass the Turing thes in some other thread :)

Maybe this would not be a case of AI passing the test, but a human failing it

WOW. Not only did he build that, but (from his company value) he seems to have the money to correct that. Simply WOW.

College has let up a bit, managed to get back into an old save game of mine, found this little gem of construction. Luckily for the AI, i didn't turn off the 'trains can do 90 degree turns' switch
