I meant did you change them to allow for the canal to be runing down the middle.SAC wrote:Yes, I had to! These trees are a bit taller, or to be more specific, I allowed for these trees to be just a tiny bit taller than the originals for the purpose of details. Do you think they are to big?robotboy wrote:have you changed the forest by any chance sac in size that is.
You're welcome! I knew I would be able to use these trees on some occasion, never figured it would be for TTD though - as they were originally made for a completely different game!Purno wrote:OMG! /\ shaped trees!

Oh, you mean the industrial forest?!
No, I haven't changed that at all. But if you're using the scenario editor you'll notice that you can place that forest on uneven terrain - and add canals or whatever you want in between!

Thanks both of you!
Since Robotboy brought it up, somehow anyway, I'm beginning to think perhaps I should change the industrial forest to better fit the "actual forest"! Or perhaps I should focus!

Nah, may aswell get it done while you're at it. Might want to also give some attention to the small tree that gets placed allongside the roads. I can get you the sprite-number inside trg1r.grf for that if you want (I had a hell of a time trying to find it at first, patchman came to my rescue with that one),SAC wrote:Or perhaps I should focus!

Well, the only one I can think of - although oddly placed - is the one little tree placed right before the toyland stuffies. The number is 4626, but I haven't tested it!
Still, you're right! It required some very close checking to be found!

4626? Sounds about right, I'm pretty sure that was the one I replaced when I was working on the Japanese landscape/trees/road sets.

Yeah, it was! Anyway, did a quick test and came up with something like this; (not sure whether to go for something lighter green - or perhaps pinkish... )

Thanks!
Guys, I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not the street lined up trees are to tall - or even to thick. What do you think? Should I make them less taller or less thicker - or both? Or are they fine, or should I try out more various trees?

Really? Not even those street lined ones? I have a feeling they are just a tiny bit to large! I added iron bars around them, as one can find in real life, but I'm not sure if it looks okey though! Should I keep them or remove them?

Yeah, but it needs to be updated as SJ, the swedish railroad company, uses a different livery now as the X2000 train sets are undergoing some improvements. I was going to update it myself, but if you don't have anything to do - or let me refrase that; when your new 2cc-set is done, you might wanna look into it!Purno wrote:It's an honour my X2000 graphics got a place in your screenshot, SAC.SAC wrote:
Well, I sort of agree with you Sir Bob! It looks out of place! I shall remove it immediately!Sir Bob wrote:I think you should remove them. I do not think they look as 'real'... in a sense, as the ones IRL
Anyway, that's just my opinion.

EDIT: Great screenies by the way

Looking great! But...
IMO, the contrast between the brightest and the darkest trees is too large. When they get put next to each other, it looks strange (sun shining through a small hole?). If I had made the trees (which I probably couldn't), the darkest ones would not be that dark, and the brightest ones would not be that bright.
As for the size of the city street trees, I think it's perfect (but they are a shade too dark )
Edit: I just checked your screenshot in PSP, adjusting the monitor gamma setting - with calibrated gamma settings, your colours are perfect! Unfortunately, this is a setting inside PSP only, not for the monitor in general. This may explain why we have such diverse opinions about the darkness of your trees. Different monitors have different gamma values - for example pictures optimized for a MacIntosh usually are much too dark on a typical Windows screen (or was it too bright? Whatever..).
