Music
Using Windows XP: I can't seem to hear ingame music (though I can hear sound effects).
I've installed OpenTTD using the windows installer.
I had the TTD windows version installed prior to installing OpenTTD, so the /gm directory has been automatically copied from the TTD directory during installation.
I tried running it with the debug flag: OpenTTD -d , but nothing was output.
Any ideas ?

You didn't copy the gm/ folder from your TTD install/TTD disc.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

I don't understand
I wrote that the OpenTTD installation automatically copied the /gm subdirectory from the TTD directory.
What's wrong with that?

If you are absolutely sure that the .gm files are in the OpenTTD/gm/ directory then we believe you . But perhaps a screenshot of your directory as proof?
You can try running openttd with the flags '-m win32' or '-m dmusic' perhaps that might help, but music always worked for me by default in WinXP.

Oh, another thing
Running OpenTTD using those -m flags didn't help.
Hmm, do you get sound if you play those .gm files with media player? If not then I'm out of ideas.

The songs are heard when opening the files with Media Player.

Compared to mine that is working and quite simmilar exept for the volume, you problem is really strage. you should check the files that are in your "gm" are valid .gm files. Overwise, replace them by the gm files of TTDX.
But your problem is very strange....
Still in music, there is a strange problem : the game cannot lauch automatically the Sawyer's tune or I hear only the end.

I have a somewhat similar problem - although im not particularly bothered by it - when i first installed the game a year or two ago, i turned the volume for both sound and music down to off - and it can't now turn on again. It worked before, but never has since- rasing the volume meter doesn'thelp. But, as i said, it doesn't worry me particularly.
