Still can't fix it

I started with trying to fix the dos version under xp. When it failed I downloaded the windows version and 1.8.1w patch. But the problem is: setup.exe doesn't run, so I couldn't check whether the patch fixes the game or not. Any suggestions :?:

It doesn't say anything - just launches usual error report "setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." :(

Something's probably got corrupted. Try extracting the files again, and if that fails, download TTD from a different source and try again.
